Our Pastor

Pastor Keith & Sister Maria Cunningham

Pastor Keith Cunningham was born and raised in Miami, FL. In 1984 after graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army. While stationed in Corozal, Republic of Panama, he was invited to Maranatha Baptist Church, Balboa, Rep. of Panama. It was during this church service on August 3, 1986, that he heard, for the first time a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He came under conviction about his sins and during that same service repented of his sins and trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He was later baptized and joined Maranatha Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Al Sligh. While growing as a new convert and serving in the Bus Ministry, soul winning and married couples fellowship, God called him to surrender to full time Christian Service during a mission’s conference on May 15, 1988.

After completing his commitment to the U.S. Army, he enrolled in Bible College where he completed his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Religious Education degrees from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He is the Founding Pastor of Victory Baptist Church.

Pastor Cunningham is married to his lovely wife of over 23 years, Maria, a native of the Republic of Panama, who has faithfully served along side her husband since the inception of this ministry. They have 3 adult children, Alecia, Jeremiah, and Joshua.

Pastor Cunningham & the Scripture

Pastor Cunningham’s pulpit is solely dedicated to the delivering of the Unadulterated, Holy, Inspired, unadulterated Word of God. It is off limits for anyone who would but rightly divide the Word of Truth. This includes he, himself.

“2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

This scripture must never be violated in the feeding of the flock under this shepherd. This standard is applicable to everyone who preaches and teaches the Word of God in Victory Baptist Church. It also applies to the Under Shepherd of the flock, himself.

Pastor Cunningham & Servant Leadership

Biblical servant leadership in the first place, places the interest of our Master, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Bible over that of the servant. Matthew 23:10-11 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Biblical servant leadership secondly places the interest of the flock over that of the shepherd. John 10:11-12 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. Luke 15:4-6 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

Biblical servant leadership thirdly is all-inclusive and zero-exclusive in relation to the ever-existing task within the body. Matthew 20:25-28 25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

This is the type of leadership that Pastor Keith Cnningham has designed and maintained at Victory Baptist Church.

Pastor Cunningham & Strong Men

Pastor Cunningham promotes the nurturing and development of strong men as spiritual leaders in the family, the church, and the community; while his wife Sister Maria Cunningham focuses on the specific needs and development of the ladies of Victory Baptist Church.

As the men’s fellowship director, in addition to ministering to the entire body, Pastor Cunningham is strong on his role to develop the men into spiritual giants while his wife, sister Maria Cunningham, who is the director of the women’s fellowship is strong on developing the women of the church for the service of the Lord in their family, the church and in their communities.
