Why We Invest In Our Youth
Our youth carry the message that we deliver to them in the here and now into the future. They will deliver to their generation that which we effectively delivered to them. We are sending a message to and we are creating a legacy for the future generation by that which we inculcate into our youth. This is not restrictive of that which is wholesome only. It is also reflective of that which is evil and digressive.
Our youth will represent in the future the true reflection of our legacy in the here and now. We are not only responsible for setting the correct examples for them to follow; we are also responsible for showing them how to consciously and calculatingly carry out our legacy by engaging them in same. Someone correctly said that “we are today what or who we have been becoming. What we are becoming is what or who we will be regardless of that which we plan to be or think we are.”
Our youth will exemplify our examples and that which we allow them to ensample in our churches in our tenure. 1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. We as adults must understand that though this command was given to Timothy who was a youth at that time, our youth aren’t the ones in charge of the opportunities, we are. If the youth are not given a chance to put into practice, the duties that they shall carry out after our departure, then they will move on to carry out that which they had become proficient at while we were busy sucking up all of their opportunities.
We acknowledge that while this passage places the onus on the youth to preserve their youth in action or full operation, they are also instructed to obey their parents and respect those who have rule over them. As such, in actuality, the onus is partly on those in authority to facilitate their mandate.
